Charles Darwin

Charles Darwin was born on the 12th of February, 1809. He was born at the mount. In Shrewsbury in England.
His father, Robert Darwin was a famed doctor. He had five brothers and sisters. His mother died when he was eight. His mother's family was called the Wedgwood's and lived close by. Charles liked his family but he didn't like school.

Back in the 1800's school was not fun for kids. They had a hard time because there was so much work and they had to do what the teacher always said to them.
Instead of being at school he went collecting beetles and watching birds. He liked to collect interesting beetles in his father's garden.

He and his brother Erasmus built their own shed together. They were best brothers.

As a teenager he became obsessed with shooting and often went out shooting with his uncle Josh and William. His father was worried that he would become one of the idle rich. This means a rich man that doesn't do anything. He told Charles, "You care for nothing but shooting. You will be a disgrace to yourself and family!" Charles clearly enjoyed shooting  and was very good at. But his passion for shooting eventually faded, One story states that he once came across that a bird was shot the day before and still alive.

Darwin found fossils from some extinct armadillos in Southern America. The skeletons were much larger in size than the existing ones. He was good at observing the differences. Charles Darwin realised that the species must have changed over time. This is his theory of evolution.

These are just some of the ways Charles Darwin is such an inspiring person. ... He has made some amazing discoveries and observations! Some day I would love to discover just like him!
